COMMUNITY: Foundation For Girls

We started working with the Foundation For Girls as a favor for one of our former professors at The Art Institute of Charlotte. When we agreed to go down this path together we never imagined we would be here 2 years later. With each of us being different and doing this for different reasons, we had one common goal which was to reach beyond, to be apart of something greater than ourselves....

For Jazmine it was Exposure. Teaching young moms she understood that there was so much they would need. "For most people, they don't know that there is more to life than their circumstances because that's all they know. By exposing these young mothers to a whole new world, not only am I teaching them different techniques to use in the kitchen, but also letting them know that there is way more out there for them", says Chef Jazmine.....

For Naomi it was being able to use her gift to teach young mothers how to cook, maximize their food dollars and create beyond their imagination. "Why do I do this? We are breathing some type of life back into these young ladies with food. I love to see their faces when we introduce them to new things. It is something greater than me and I get to do it!" - Chef Naomi....

For Ashley it was an opportunity to work with new friends and so much more. "I had no idea that what would transpire is that I would learn, grow and be inspired as a woman, as a chef, and as a mother. Through teaching at Florence Crittenton Services, by way of FFG, I am able to be creative, evolve as a chef by teaching new and different ways to approach not only the students and cuisine but life itself. This opportunity to give back has given me more than I could have ever imagined".- Chef Ashley.

We are apart of something greater than us and we don't have to do it.........it's a privilege and a pleasure.
